Everybody wants to experience dating happiness but a lot of people aren’t exactly sure what that will entail. Dating can be a mysterious process where people aren’t even aware of their own expectations. Is there such a thing as being ready to date? The answer is yes because you need to have a certain level of responsibility in order to do it properly. Anyone can go to the movies with another person or spend a couple of hours in a coffee shop, but we’re talking about real dating as a process to get to know another person. It will eventually lead to a second stage where romance is injected into the picture and a firm relationship is established. Being ready to date certainly isn’t for everyone and here are some dating tips you should consider before you look for love.
What do I want?
What you want can have a profound effect on how your dating life goes. If you just want to make friends then that is very different than someone who wants a romantic relationship. If you go into any situation without clear goals, regardless of whether it is dating or not, you are going to have a harder time. So decide for yourself why you want to date in the first place and you will already be off on the right foot.
Do I really want to date?
Most people automatically assume that they want a date can be in a relationship, but they fail to accurately assess their own situation. In addition to coming up with dating goals you should figure out why you want to date in the first place. If it’s for reasons that are not entirely healthy (ie. getting revenge on a crush) then you are better off being single for now. Good reasons for wanting to date include a desire to meet new people or to make friends and see where it leads. A bad reason to date is because you feel pressure from your friends that forces you into looking for a partner even though you don’t want one.
What about other areas of my life?
In order to date successfully you really have to have your stuff together. If you don’t have a job or are struggling in school than dating can become 100 times harder. On the other hand if you have a stable career, a nice place to live, and no financial worries then dating is going to come a lot easier. It’s all about focus and if you are able to put it onto a relationship without spreading it around to other stresses and worries, you are going to be in a better position to succeed.
Will being with someone actually help?
Sometimes people pursue dating as a way to fill an emotional void. The only problem is that void is caused by something else entirely and it can be made worse once a person is actually in a relationship. There is a lot of emotional and psychological mumbo jumbo related to this point, but it basically boils down to whether or not you are afraid to be alone. Sometimes it helps to be alone so that you can actually figure out who you are before trying to find someone who wants to be with you.
Am I ready to do what it takes?
Dating is not easy. There are no magic love spells that will help you along the way. Things are not how they appear in the best romantic movies. There is always the initial infatuation stage associated with dating, but eventually you will move into the real stuff. This is when it can get hard because keeping a relationship going takes dedication and effort. Lot of people are ready for the good portions of dating but really aren’t able to handle the difficult parts. If you want to find true happiness in a relationship you have to be prepared to put in an effort during good times and bad.
