You’ve finally managed to get yourself a date with the person of your dreams and this could be the start of something special. But then you take a look in your wallet and realize that the only thing you have in there is an ATM slip with a zero dollar balance. You can’t even afford to buy a candy bar if you wanted to. Now what? Well, don’t count yourself out yet because there are plenty of great first date ideas that don’t involve having to spend money at all. And after all, you are the main selling point of your date so you shouldn’t really have to worry about getting too extravagant anyways. As long as you take care of your end of the bargain and have your manners with you, you can still make any dating situation work without having a lot of money. Here are some great first date ideas if you happen to be broke.
Go for a cup of coffee – even if you had a full bank account this would still make a great idea for a first date. A coffee shop is a nice casual place to hang out and engage in fun conversation for about an hour or two. You can simply sit back and watch people that walked by or share your deepest innermost thoughts over a cup of coffee (which happens to be cheap).
A picnic – you don’t even actually need a basket to go on a picnic that rivals the best romantic movies. All you have to do is go to the grocery store and pick up some basic supplies to make sandwiches. Throw in a couple of juice boxes and maybe some sliced of festivals, and you have a complete meal right there. It’s really the thought that counts when it comes to a picnic because it will seem like you put much more effort into it than simply making a dinner reservation. It can also be incredibly romantic while winning you bonus points for originality.
Go window shopping – almost every urban area has at least one street designated for shopping. It might even be a street where tourists frequent to look for souvenirs, or maybe it’s simply where all the cool people hang out. The trick about going window shopping for a date is spending a little bit of money on a small item in the first shop you see and then cutting yourself off completely. Keep in mind that whatever you buy should be a gift for your date instead of something for yourself.
Go to the beach - there is plenty of fun to have at the beach and you don’t have to spend a single dime. You can simply lounge on the sand, go for a swim in the ocean, or play a game of beach volleyball. And to wrap it all up, there’s nothing more romantic than a stroll along the sand as the sun begins to set. Your date will have so much fun that she won’t even notice that you didn’t spend one single dollar on her.
An Internet date - these days you can use something like messenger or Skype to have a first date without even being in the same room. Just playfully suggest that you want to do things differently and you want to have your first official date over the Internet. Then all you have to do is hook yourself up and start chatting away. If nothing else, it will be something that your date is going to remember the matter how well it does, and it’s probably something that she has never done before on a first date.
